So pathetic that we Indians now have a bunch of prejudiced idiots in the editing desks. Instead of reporting the facts, these media are ONLY interested in sensationalizing news there by increasing their reader/viewer-ship ratings. In my last post I have posted how Kerala CM, V S Achuthananthan’s comments were misinterpreted consciously to create a controversy by TimesNOW. I believe these pro-right bourgeoisie media are ONLY very keen and ’sincere’ to create unnecessary controversies when a communist leader is involved. Here, I have compiled a few instances (though not limited to) related to Mumbai terror attacks, which our Indian media were reluctant to comment or ‘sensationalize‘.
- During the 26/11 attacks, our first citizen, Pratibha Patil was on tour to Bali and had returned to India only by 1st of December. No media were enthusiastic enough in reporting the absence of ‘rashtrapathi’ – lord of the realm, when her country was under terror attacks.
- If you go behind the real reason of attacks, which in turn lead to martyr of Major. Sandeep Unnikrishnan, your search will end in front of 7 Race Course Road who should be held responsible, as the head of government, and also his defense minister, for the unforgivable failure of Indian intelligence system in the Mumbai terror attacks. When did the Hon. defence minister, A K Antony called up the slain major’s family? It didn’t hit the headlines when the defense minister was late to call up and console his soldier’s family and also when, Mr. Unnikrishnan. father of slain Major. Sandeep Unnikrishnan refused to talk to him.
- It also didn’t become a headline when the yuvraj, Shri. Rahul Gandhi was busy partying midnight during the Mumbai terror attacks till 5 AM in the morning. Also have a look at how Congress party defended the yuvraj’s booze-party. Don’t tell me that you didn’t know about this incident – you didn’t, because most of our media is right-biased to core.
- Back to Kerala, when the opposition parties lead by India National Congress (I), was alleging of the delay – well there wasn’t any delay anyway. The Kerala chief minister had called up the Political secretary the moment he came to know about the incident, to visit the Major’s house. He had also called up Major’s house, expressed his condolences and assured that he will visit their house at Banglore, the very next day. The million dollar (or rupee) question is how many of Kerala opposition leaders visited the Major’s house till now? The answer is ZERO.
- There was a protest lead by Yuva Morcha (Malayalam news – It seems no non-Malayalam media had reported it.) at Thiruvananthapuram against the Kerala CM’s remarks alleging that it insulted Major Sandeep’s family. It is quite clear that (in my last post I have translated Kerala CM’s comments), there was nothing in Kerala CM’s comments, explicitly or implicitly, abusive or defaming the Major or his family. Now, in that protest, they hung the picture of Kerala CM to a dog and walked with it. Ironically, these are the people who are proud about their “great Indian culture“, but here they forgot respecting Kerala CM, not his position, but his age – he might be older than most of their grandparents!
It was unfortunate to see the angry youth abusing, hate-mailing/scrapping the Kerala CM for absolutely no mistake from his side, blinded by the misinterpreted reports from the right-biased media and even when I am writing this post, the opposition parties are still protesting against the CM even after both the parties have unconditionally apologized each other and requested to end the controversy. I am wondering when the media and the so-called “patriotic youth” [whose blood boils only when they see an Indo-Pak match or when they see a war movie. They are too lazy to do something for their country but are very keen to get outside India for a job. They firmly believe that they hold the "monopoly of patriotism" . For obvious reasons I call these misguided pseudo-patriotic youth as the "curse of India"] will start protesting for a reduction in Crude oil prices which is the need of the hour. It was increased when the crude oil prices hit above 140$ mark for a barrel, and as of now it is some 45$ for a barrel. The reduced petroleum product price may help in controlling the commodity prices which will be useful for India as a whole. Manmohan Singh government is very reluctant in reducing the Diesel/Petrol prices, which they say, will affect the profit of Petroleum companies. I would like to see a decrease in at least the Diesel prices, which will directly influence (because of the reduction in freight charges) the essential commodity prices.

MALAYAALATHIL ORU CHOLLUND “VANDICHILLELUM NINDIKKARUTHENN”..At last VS said sorry..for what??? There was no necessity of a press meeting that day..He was adding ghee in fire..I am not supporting any other politicians..All politicians are the same..What they are doing for us??? Say fuck off to them.. During Terrorist attack what u did..U wer praying for them all the time?? Then why r u blaming otherones for partying n all..But did they told anything against Sandeep’s family..This topic is all over..VS know he was wrong n he told really an unwanted thing..So he said sorry..Now no more comments..
@dev/citizen
Your views are completely flawed and prejudiced. First thing, CM never ever insulted the martyr or his family. It is very clear from the video that there was nothing defamatory/abusive against the slain majors family. There is another saying in Malayalam “കണ്ണടച്ചിരുട്ടാക്കരുത്” (Don’t close your eyes to make it dark)… and you are doing that and blaming the CM.
Your comment, unfortunately never touches the topic. I was pointing out the double standards of Indian media in reporting news and where in my I post I justified the Communist parties?
Please comment on the topic.
You are absolutely right in pointing out the fact that the media is having double standards. But that varies from each editor to the media management. Its not necessary that every media is right biased. Atleast you ewont mention Deshabhimani in that group
but still i believe CM should have avoided that contoversy !
gooood post…. !!!!!!!!
came to knw abt all dese jst nw,, probably coz the medias i went thru were right biased….
even i hav felt many a times dat many of the medias has sumthng against the left…
but still cant deny the fact dat a few are left biased too….
nothing to wonder abt the protest by yuvamorcha… cant expect the political parties(left or right or…. ) frm india to behave in a better manner….
but i did feel that unnikrishnan should have shown some respect atleast to the cm’s age dat day…
wel…regarding the controversies…no comments…..but i do agree with ur statement that media is right biased…n hv got double standards…infact its true that they just add sm mirchi n masala 2 the real stuff to make it a `SENSATIONAL’ one….and people are not suppose to be blamed because its afterall the media which is the only source of information…but its sad that the educated mass in majority is blindly believing the media and infact helping out the media to spread more and more sensational news like this(which is unfortunately not true)…….its high time…people should actually stop completely relying on the media before spreading the news through scraps or posts etc.etc…instead they should try to think in all possible ways before becoming monomaniacs of the bourgeoisie media…..
ur blogs are too good…..keep posting…:)
Everybody in kerala knows most of the media here is biased towards the right wing. And then the politicians are always looking for something to blame each other for. It all is like a merry go round. fed up off politics, atleast in kerala….
Good post pratheesh,
It was horrifying to see the media grappling to get more out of the carnage in Mumbai. The reporters were like crows feasting on the dead bodies. They were adding mayhem to the already volatile situation; as additional people had to be posted to refrain them from crossing the barriers. We dint say a word about it, because we were watching the kind of chaos for which we pay tickets and go to the movie houses. All enjoyed the free screening. Stop talking and work for your motherland if you love her
manga tholi ……………….
Good one.
A nation gets the spokesmen it deserves !
Never has the elitist Indian media displayed its snobbery unabashedly than in handling the Mumbai Terror Strike. The whole issue has been fired up to stupid discussions about ‘hot pursuit’ of LeT in Pak territory, imposing President’s rule in India, ousting democratically elected leaders, boycotting voting processes and even call for Ratan Tata to be made the PM !! Not to mention the nauseating neocon journalistic rhetoric of the Taj Hotel being India’s “icon”.
It was as if these nincompoops were really craving for an Indian version of the “9/11″, so as to count India into the global “Anti-Terrorist” alliances.
There have been massacres of much larger scale, both against the general public as well as ethnic groups. Bomb blasts have killed thousands of ordinary Indians in Railway stations, Bus Stands and market places. People of certain religion and creed have been slaughtered like animals in despicable state sponsored violence…Then why does this particular incident qualify as India’s “rite of passage” into the Anti-terrorist club ? Why is November 26 India’s 9/11 ?
The answer can be picked up from between the lines that these ‘Raymond Suit-clad Kentucky-Fried-Chicken-journos’ keep muttering weeks on end : “this isn’t any more a problem of the man on the street. It now affects us too. Even the ballrooms of the star hotels aren’t safe !!”
Oooo!! is it ?
The entire episode is the creation of media. Who can insist that every state Govt has to be represented in the funeral of soldiers who laid down their life? Why such silly issues are raked up by the media ? Is it due to the inexperienced news readers or anchors ? Or is it a deliberate attempt from the media management ? In any case it is a pity on the part of the media to cover up the real issues involved in the mumbai incident. It is clear now that the terrorist came from Pakistan. It is also part of History that Pakistan also was a victim of such or similar attack in hotels in Karachi earlier. It is admitted by the Naval chief that they failed to protect the coastal borders for which they are meant. The media has to probe and report to the people on so many questions. They shirk their responsibility by raking up silly issues such as that of Kerala CM, who in any case manage the state much better than any other. The media has to answer so many questions as that follows.
I would like to add few more questions to be answered by the media by investigating them by channellising their energies to worthwhile aspects than to vilify the innocents.
Why the Navy has failed ? Why the defence department, ministry and personnel not being held responsible while those concerned with the Internal security both at Centre and state are fired ? Was the Navy not alerted in time over the intelligence reports ? Has the terrorists touched Gujarat coast ? What was the real intention of the attack ? Was it to terrorise the west ? or Was it to terrorise India ? And if so why ? Or was it some thing else like killing the top brasses of Indian security force who happened to have laid down their lives ? Has it got any connection to the Malegao findings, the Mody appearance in Mumbai, the route the terrorists said to have taken by touching Gujarat coast ? And so many others …
Well you can add one more instance today. Times Now reported today that 2 Cpi-M MPs held up a delhi -Trivandrum flight. This was the headline . The actual “News” added that the aircraft developed a technical fault and the passengers were asked to disembark and all thet did was to protest the old aircrafts flown in That route by the airline. Times Now reporters were at hand at the airport at the right time to interview the passengers including a forienger who seemed bemused by the invitation to blacken a fellow passenger protesting genuinely. No problem, There was an educated Indian who was very willing to rundown the MPs, who he claimed were elected terrorists!
didn’t you read janashakthi news? he was mentioning PM did not visit unnikrishnan?
they dont have any other works? these dobermans are just following their heigher ups orders!
I have come to know the facts u have numbered only now…and if its really true that rahul gandhi had indeed been partying…tut tut…
But i guess none expects anythig frm OUR politicians…how many of us do ’sincerely beleive that, those politicians are out there 4 our betterment, huh?!are there people as naive as that,STILL?
as for the CM’s remarks…i was of the opinion from the very beginning that unnecessary hue and cry was made over it tho’ i did think V.S the man could have made that comment, but V.S the C.M had no right to…
as for the “patriotic youth’ “curse of india”…how very egoistic,self-obsessed and snobbish,Pratz!
A very very unnecessary comment that spoils the essence of the whole article.
as for the “patriotic youth’ “curse of india”…how very egoistic,self-obsessed and snobbish,Pratz!
snobbish… me? eh? c’mon…
Yet another example of Cpi-M black tarring—–
Headlines of The times group—
Maradona traumatized, CPM men beat scribes
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/Cities/Maradona_scared_CPM_men_beat_journos/articleshow/3806109.cms
You will think Cpi-m traumatized Maradons by hammering Scribes in front of him, after reading the headline in Big BLOCK LETTERS. The truth? Well read the article itself—-
For the first time in his life, a packed stadium scared Diego Maradona. After the ruckus at Salt Lake stadium on Saturday, there was worse in store on Sunday mediamen were bashed up in front of CPM patriarch Jyoti Basu’s house by supporters of sports minister Subhas Chakraborty
In Kerala “ALL THE OLD THINGS ARE LIKE GOLD”, especially in politics. The old people should sit in the varantha in a clothed chair. Because the people are forgetting the proverb in Malayalam ENTHIRUPATH,,,,,, MURIMUPPATH,,,,,,,, ARINAPPATH,,,,,,,,,, CHORIARUPATH. In the old age most of the politicians come to the chair, and they don’t know what they are talking and doing. About public, politics is a heritage and it is a kind of stain in their blood. They don’t know to whom they are voting. Even their neighbours they are seing in the eye of politics. Politicians are brilliant to keep and maintain this mentality in the public. Even if it is communist or congress, their moral side is weak to the side of public. Think what development they did from their ruling in Kerala for the last few decards. They are coming in power alternatively.
Somebody told “POTHU JANAM KAZHUTHA” It is very currect when we compare our state to our nearest states.
